Virtual Entrepreneurship Center Branding Process

Introduction

The main design concept is to choose a School Organization, and create a brand logo, along with products to fit with the typography, color choice, and overall look for the clients needs. The organization I chose to design is the Virtual Entrepreneurship Center (Or V.E.C. for short).

About the V.E.C.

The Virtual Entrepreneurship Center is a one-stop shop company at MiraCosta where they help educate future entrepreneurs on the tips, tricks, and tools that they need to start up their own future business. The VEC is to help enable and empower anyone, or MiraCosta students to engage in entrepreneur activities, and help prepare them with the information to provide them for their ideas in their future business. The company will serve under-estimated, under-represented, and even under-resource entrepreneur’s to get building, and to serve a better future. There won’t be any need for students to enroll in this type of program to engage in these activities the company provides, and there will be a good income provided for that student to help with what they want their business to be in the future. Another process being created is that the original site is through canvas, but so the person needs to be a MiraCosta student to access it, where they have a physical incubator space for the student to check out equipment, and even offer space for the students to work on their business ventures. The message in this company wants to be direct and simple when getting the message out to those in wanting to start their business to tie in with that major.

Questionaire

1) Main goals or Mission:

To help students gain the experience and tools needed to know how to run their own future business. This company’s goal is to both enable and empower students, whether or not they’re MiraCosta students, to engage in hands-on activities and workshops to gain knowledge that will help them run their own companies.

2) Challenges to achieve goals:

Social Media, such as Instagram, Twitter, Slack, etc., some people won’t know how to use and learn to use social media by setting up a channel to attract people. Social media will have to be planned out later in the future. The company is also trying to expand this company after it received a grant in Spring 2021. Company doesn’t want to be seen with any corporate imagery.

3) Services, products, infrastructure:

Students can connect with faculty coach, watch videos, or get info for an entrepreneurship. The faculty can provide workshops for students interested in starting their own businesses, even granting certain equipment or software to students for a certain amount of time (Check out and receive).

4) What are main target market (audience)? BE SPECIFIC

This company is targeted to students. Whether or not they’re a student at MiraCosta, it’s for anyone wanting to start their own business as an entrepreneur for their future company. They will help any type of future entrepreneur in providing them supplies, workshops, and skills needed for their knowledge in running their own business in the future.

5) Who are main competitors? What makes them stand out from the
competition?

For competition, when working as a company to help students become future entrepreneurs, its best to work together with other companies to help provide the needs and tools for those students to help with their future business. Online Courses like, Thrive, Hubspot Blog, SBA, EntreSkills, and other sites provides information on taking courses to become a future entrepreneur. Some companies that teach people the tools to be entrepreneurs would involve making appointments or workshops for about $15 to $20. Other companies compared to VEC doesn’t sell equipment to use and return until that person is able to get equipment of their own.

6) How are they represented by their current branding? Who designed it? Is there
a story behind it?

This company does have the information needed for their website, but they’re in need of a branding logo, marketing collateral, and style guide. These things are needed as a way to present the information for their site. They started the ideas of teaching students the tools to being an entrepreneur half a year ago, receiving a grant for it last Spring. They’re in need to create a branding logo that represents their company.

7) Who designs and produces their communication/marketing pieces?

As part of the project, creating a new branding logo from scratch to digital, we’re helping design their branding logo, and have it fit and belong to the MiraCosta Institution. This company does have their own flyers, files, testimonials, and website to communicate their own marketing pieces.

8) Who decides how organization’s design look like (stakeholders)?

The college only has the ability to dictate if they find anything inconsistent with the MiraCosta brand. Each student organization does have a logo as long as it’s not out of the context, and it looks like it would belong to the MiraCosta Institution.

9) What will be the central ideas or key messages for the new brand?

The Central Idea/Key message of the virtual entrepreneurship center is to serve the under-estimated/under-represented/under-resource entrepreneurs that need help to get building on their own business, and serving to help create a better future.

10) Which attributes will it have (tone, spirit, look and feel)? 5 nouns, 5 adjectives,
5 verbs

Some of the attributes for the VEC website would be Sight, Tools, Resource, People, Students, Starting, Resources, Empower, Aspire, and Enable. For the look and feel of the website, the style would have to be Clean, Fresh, Colorful, Useful, Happy, Joyful, and Creative

11) Which elements are you keeping from the current (old) branding as EQUITY?

Some of the elements to keep from the old branding is through their way of communication (Flyers, PNG files, Testimonials, Canvas/Screenshots), including their idea on how they’re providing assistance/supplies needed to teach the student the tools to start up their own business.

Branding Attributes and Personas

The Brand positioning will need to be changed since it looks more professional. The Personas will need to change the location information since the area is to be more in the Oceanside area.

Logo Idea Sketches

Before starting with the design brands, the first step is creating a logo that will help give an understanding about the company. The concepts of these sketches for creating the logo is to make it creative, and too corporate that will help bring students in to get the tools and resources needed to run their own future business.
